About the venue

Travessia do Sol is a family owned contemporary and eco-friendly house that hosts retreats, events and rentals all year round, in the verdant valley of northern Portugal since 2022. Travessia do Sol was designed according to the philosophy of permaculture and well-being in mind.

This magical place was born from a shared family dream: to create a place where we could recharge and pamper ourselves, while enhancing local biodiversity and our own connection to nature.

Based in a small village close to the historical city of Ponte de Lima, this eco-lodge offers rich and eclectic activities and safe spaces to rest and recharge.

The venue has grown in 2025 including a second house, Casa Pôr do Sol, adjoining Travessia do Sol. The whole venue is called now Canto do Sol.The two houses can be rented separately or together, to suit all needs and group sizes, up to 27 people.

Both houses share magnificient views on the Lima river valley and have been furbished and present an ecological boho-chic refinement style.

Surrounding Area

The contemporary house is surrounded by a rolling countryside. You have access to the enchanting Lima river from our property within 3 min on foot which is also suitable for bathing, swimming and kayaking. The water is pretty warm in summer.
On the riverbed trails (Ecovia) you can walk or cycle (we have mountain bikes at disposal) for kilometers in a very beautiful natural environment. You join the beautiful historical town of Ponte de Lima in around 30 minutes by bike (6km) where you find a large array of shops and good restaurants. A lot of nature walks are to be explored in the close region, the Peneda Gères National Park known for its great biodiversity is nearby.

We are about 50 minutes drive from the historic city of Porto, 30 minutes drive from Braga and 20 minutes drive from the ocean and its nice beaches offering sports activities, surf and kite surf-schools,

Facilities: Magnesium treated outdoor pool, outdoor hot tub, multi-functional room of around 55m2 (fully equipped for Yoga and Pilates for 16 people with mats, blocks, straps and blankets), large terraces and balconies, large wooden deck and stone patio, different garden zones

Services: As a retreat venue, we can offer a range of personalized services to facilitators and clients. We are well connected to local providers. Service offers: team of different chefs (vegan, vegetarian, meat/fish), massages onsite by certified therapists, Yoga or Pilates classes onsite, sports outings (kayak, SUP, waterbike, kite-surf, wind-foil, surf, horseback riding, golf, guides or self-guided hikes in the region) pottery classes, wine tasting, transport/van service (travel from and to the airport and excursions in the region)

Full Board

We can offer chef-services and meet different diet requirements. Full or Half-board options are available (only dinners on request). Our chefs adapt to what is desired or required in terms of schedules and meals. Price start at around 40 euros for full-board (vegan or vegetarian), around 50 euros for full-board (meat and fish)

Chef/cook service:

We work with a small, dedicated team of chefs who live in the area. They offer a wide variety of dishes, both vegetarian and vegan, with a focus on local seasonal produce (also from our garden/potager). Most of the chefs can also prepare fish and meat dishes if desired.
We always offer facilitators the opportunity to discuss the composition of the meal plan directly with the chef, as well as the timetable for serving brunch/lunch and dinner.

Everything can be tailor-made to suit dietary requirements. Most of the time, a light self serve breakfast, brunch/lunch, snack and dinner is on the “program”.

Travessia do Sol:
6 comfortable rooms, equipped with single beds (maximum capacity is 14 people), 6 bathrooms including 4 en-suite and 2 private (opposite the rooms). We have 4 bedrooms on the first floor, one of which is equipped with a kitchen (studio), and 2 bedrooms on the 1st floor. On the 1st floor is the large kitchen, dining room and living room.
We have 2 large bedrooms that can accommodate up to 3 people.

Casa Pôr do Sol:
The house has 10 beds in 5 comfortably styled bedrooms and comes with 4 full bathrooms 8 (2 of them are en-suite). For your needs, 3 convertible beds be added to rooms. Furthermore, it comes with a large kitchen space/eating area and 2 living rooms.The house also has an outdoor jacuzzi, a large wooden deck joined by a stone patio and wide garden zones for gathering and relaxation.
Canto do Sol venue:
Ideal for groups, retreats or family stays, the venue is an invitation to rest, conviviality and reconnection.
